Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about DB2: how it works, the testers, the tests and the subscriptions.
DB2
What is DB2?
An online platform that automatically receives and stores the results of the battery tests made with Wi-Fi Midtronics testers. You can look them up, export them to Excel and follow your workshop’s statistics from any browser.
Do I have to install anything?
No. DB2 opens in the browser, on a computer, a tablet or a phone. You only have to set, in the tester, the email address that DB2 gives you.
Which testers can I use?
Wi-Fi Midtronics testers that send their results by email, such as the CPX-900, the CPX-950 or the MVT-100. When you add a tester, the list of models shows the accepted models.
In which languages is DB2 available?
In 19 languages. Before signing in, choose yours with the language picker at the top of the page. Once signed in, the language is changed in Profile.
Getting started
How do I create an account?
Click “Create an account”, fill in your name, your email and a password of at least 8 characters, and accept the terms and conditions. Then confirm your email address with the link you receive.
How do I connect my tester to DB2?
- You need an active subscription: the free plan, when there is one, is enough to start.
- In Devices, click “New” and enter a name, the model and the 10-digit serial number of the tester.
- The Devices list shows the email address of that tester: set it in the tester as the recipient of the results.
- From then on, every test sent by the tester arrives in DB2 on its own.
Why can’t I add a tester?
The “New” button is locked without an active subscription, or when all the testers included in your plan are already in use. To get more, change plan or add testers to your subscription.
I made tests before registering the tester. What happens?
The tests sent by a tester that is not registered yet are not stored. Register the tester in Devices, then send those tests again from the tester.
Tests
How long does a test take to appear?
Usually less than a minute after the tester sends it. The list of tests updates on its own.
A test does not appear. What should I check?
- The period chosen in the Tests list includes the date of the test.
- The date and time of the tester are right: with a wrong date, the test may fall outside the chosen period or be refused.
- The tester is registered in Devices with the right serial number and model: with the wrong model, the tests are refused.
- The tester is connected to Wi-Fi and has the email address given by DB2.
- Your subscription is active and, on a limited plan, the monthly limit is not reached.
Can I change the data of a test?
The results sent by the tester cannot be changed. You can complete or correct the additional information, such as the vehicle (for example the VIN), the customer and the workshop: open the test and click “Edit” on the block you want to change.
Can I print the test report?
Yes. In the Tests list, the PDF icon opens a PDF report made by DB2. In the test window, the “BMIS Email” tab shows the email exactly as it was received from the tester, and you can print it too.
What is App VIN SCAN for?
It is an Android app that reads the full VIN of the vehicle. It is meant for testers that only record the last digits of the VIN: the full VIN sent by the app is added to the test automatically. If a test has no VIN at all, the VINs sent by the app appear in the Tests list, in the VIN column: pick the right one in the list. Download it from your account menu.
Dashboard and exports
What does the dashboard show?
A summary of your activity: the decisions on the tested batteries, the replaced batteries, the conversion rate and the number of tests per month and per year.
How do I get my tests in Excel?
In Exports, create a template once, with the columns and, if you wish, the filters you need. Then choose the period and click “Export”: the Excel file is downloaded.
Plans and subscriptions
Which plans are there?
There are two kinds: limited plans and the unlimited plan, explained below. The current prices are on the home page and exclude VAT.
What is a limited plan?
A plan with a number of tests per month, per user and not per tester, and a number of included testers. There are several tiers, by number of tests, and one of them may be free. The test counter starts again on the 1st of each month.
What is the unlimited plan?
A plan with no test limit, paid per tester: you choose how many testers you want to use. It is the best choice if you do not want to worry about limits. More testers and longer subscriptions may come with a discount.
Is the test limit per tester?
No. Only the limited plans have a test limit, and that limit is per user: the tests of all the testers of your account add up, and the counter starts again on the 1st of each month. If you want no limit at all, the unlimited plan is the best choice.
What happens if I reach the monthly limit?
A warning appears at the top of the pages, and the tests received above the limit are not stored until the next month. To carry on, move to a higher plan. Deleted tests also count towards the limit.
How do I pay for the subscription?
Choose the plan in Subscriptions and confirm the order: you get a purchase order to pay by bank transfer, with the reference to give. The subscription is activated as soon as the payment is checked, and runs from the date of the order. The free plan is activated at once.
Can I change plan?
Yes, at any time, to a plan of equal or higher value: the unused part of the current plan is deducted. To move to a lower plan, wait for the current plan to end.
What happens when the subscription ends?
You still see all the tests already stored. Only the next tests sent by the testers are no longer stored. To lose none, renew the subscription before its end date, shown on your subscription page.
User groups
What is a user group?
Several accounts, for example the workshops of a network, linked to a group owner. The owner sees the tests of all the members; each member still sees only their own.
How do I join a group?
Ask the group owner for an invitation. You can receive it by email, or enter the invitation code in Profile.
Why can’t I join a group?
Some limited plans do not allow belonging to a user group. The plans page shows which ones: choose a plan that allows it.
How do I create my own group?
First create a normal account and, once signed in, ask in Support to turn it into a group owner account.
Account
I forgot my password. What do I do?
On the sign-in page, click “Forgot your password?” and follow the link you receive by email.
Where do I change the language, the photo or the theme?
The language and the photo are changed in Profile, in your account menu. The light or dark theme is changed with the sun and moon button, in the top bar.
